Two Arrested in Stolen Van, Pulling Stolen Camper

By Jessie Williams

Two suspects in a stolen vehicle were apprehended last week after attempting to flee authorities.

According to the report filed by arresting officer, Deputy William Tuck, he was dispatched to the Scottsville Rd. area on Sunday, January 31, following a report from an anonymous caller about a van pulling a possible stolen camper.

After making contact with the vehicle on the road, Deputy Tuck learned the camper was stolen from Bowling Green, Kentucky.

He attempted to stop the vehicle, at which time the driver ran off the road and got stuck in the mud.

Two subjects, later identified as 34-year-old Michael Scott and 23-year-old Bethany Graves, then exited the vehicle and ran into a wooded area.

Officers Kyle Petty and Bobby Jacoby assisted Deputy Tuck, and the male and female suspects were detained and brought to the Macon County Jail for booking.

After further investigation, it was discovered that the van was stolen out of Sumner County.

Both agencies were notified, and the van and camper were towed from the scene.

Scott was charged with theft of property (4 counts), vandalism, evading arrest (2 counts) and driving on a suspended/revoked license. His bond is set at $46,500.

Graves was charged with theft of property (2 counts) and evading arrest (2 counts). Her bond is set at $36,000.

They are both scheduled to appear in general sessions court on April 28, 2021.

Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons would like to commend all of the officers involved in this case, and asks that anyone with information involving criminal activity in the area to contact his office. Callers may remain anonymous.
