Over 227 Grams of Meth

By Jessie Williams

Local law enforcement seized 227 grams of meth inside a vehicle last week, and are now on the hunt for the driver, who fled the scene.

According to Macon County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Deputy Jordan Davis’ report, he was on patrol on the westside of the county when he observed a silver Dodge vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle that fled the scene when officers arrived to execute a search warrant.

Deputy Davis initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver pulled into a driveway.

After pulling in, the driver then fled from the vehicle, and a foot pursuit ensued. Officer Davis’ K-9 Loki was used in the search.

The officer was unable to capture the suspect at that time, and he and K-9 Loki returned to the vehicle.

An inventory search of the vehicle driven by the suspect revealed over 227 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 3.5 grams of marijuana, various prescription pills, digital scales, glass smoking pipes, baggies and cash. A cell phone and computer were also seized by law enforcement.

After some additional investigation, officers did identify the suspect in this case, and charges are pending for possession of methamphetamine for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, evading arrest and possession of a schedule IV drug.

Deputy Davis was assisted by Sergeant Jake Ayers and Deputy Byron Butcher.

This investigation is ongoing.

“If anyone has information regarding suspicious drug activity, I encourage them to contact the Macon County Sheriff’s Department,” said Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons. “Callers may remain anonymous.”
