Guns, Drugs & Over $56,000: Two Arrested

Macon County detectives arrested two suspected drug dealers last week after discovering a large amount of cash, narcotics and firearms.
According to the investigative report written by Detective Jacob McClard, he and other detectives arrived at a residence on Epperson Springs Rd., on January 13, 2022, in an attempt to locate a female wanted for questioning.
Upon the officers’ arrival, the female subject law enforcement were looking for was observed running into the house, and an unknown male subject was seen running behind a building on the property.
While detective McClard attempted to locate the male subject, Detective William Tuck began pursuing the female subject, who ran in the front door of the house and out the back door.
After a short foot pursuit, officer Tuck was able to place the female into custody. She was identified as 30-year-old Summer Laneaux of Gallatin.
A third person, a 42-year-old male identified as Dwayne Burnett, was detained by law enforcement.
While looking for the other male subject, officers found two firearms in plain view, cash, and a large bag containing a crystalized substance in the garage. This substance weighed approximately 418 grams and later field tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.
A zipper pouch located next to one of the firearms also had approximately 3.9 grams of a crystalized substance inside. This substance also field tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Officers could not locate the man who fled, but were given consent to search the home and property from Mr. Burnett.
While searching the building, officers located several marijuana roaches and four firearms under a vehicle hood that was being used as a table.
Once inside the home, two more firearms were located, along with a plastic bag containing a green, leafy substance, a jar containing a green, leafy substance, and a plastic bag containing 34.5 Xanax bars.
The green, leafy substance, which is believed to be marijuana, weighed a total of approximately 16 grams.
Inside a dresser drawer officers located a large amount of cash, wrapped in rubber bands, that added up to be $56,722.
Digital scales and a large amount of ammunition, were also found inside the home.
Due to the amount of narcotics found, officers concluded Mr. Burnett was selling methamphetamine.
Officers seized two vehicles and a motorcycle believed to be proceeds from the sale of meth and Xanax.
A criminal history check on Burnett revealed he was a convicted felon. He was arrested and booked into the Macon County Jail on the charges of possession of a schedule VI drug, possession of a schedule VI drug for resale, armed during a dangerous felony, possession of a Schedule IV drug, possession of a Schedule IV drug for resale, possession of schedule II drug, possession of schedule II drug for resale, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $520,000 and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on February 9, 2022.
Laneaux was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon during a dangerous felony, evading arrest, possession of fentanyl for resale, possession of methamphetamine for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, alteration of serial number and possession of fentanyl. Her bond was set at $500,000 and she is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on February 9, 2022.
Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons would like to thank everyone involved in this case, and says his department will continue to fight against drugs in the community.
