Inmate Found With 15 Grams of Meth & Fentanyl

A Macon County Jail inmate just added three additional charges to his rap sheet after corrections officers found him in possession of approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
According to Detective Jacob McClard, Deputy Jason Vinson walked into his office on June 6, 2022 with a Ziploc bag, which contained a round object that appeared to be wrapped in electrical tape.
Deputy Vinson stated that inmate Tony Romines had just returned to the jail and pulled the item from his buttocks.
He explained that Correctional Officer Hailey Fann had been in the tower observing inmates as they were waiting to go through the X-ray machine, when she witnessed Romines taking off his sock and placing something inside of it that was wrapped in an orange cloth.
Correctional Officer Fann notified the officers that were searching the inmates and another correctional officer located a long, round object in the sock.
The object was given to Deputy Vinson, who delivered it to detectives.
Officers believe Romines pulled the object from his buttocks due to evidence that he smeared feces on the hallway in the jail.
The object was cut open by Detective McClard and a white, crystal-like substance was discovered inside. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Romines was charged with possession of a schedule II drug, introduction of drugs into a county institution and possession of methamphetamine.
Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons would like to thank all of the officers involved in this incident for their efforts to continue to keep drugs out of the jail.
