RBS captures big wins over Trousdale County

Last Friday night was homecoming night at Red Boiling Springs with all the winners on hand and a huge crowd was there for the ceremonies.

With all the Lady Bulldogs involved in the homecoming some thought their attention to their game would not be a problem and after the first 8 minutes of the game the Lady Bulldogs proved them right. Lady Bulldogs Chloe Powell along with Claire Fleming and Josie Green each made three pointers and a 18-7 lead belonged to the home team. The Lady Bulldogs won this game 62-28.

The Lady Bulldogs kept up their in-your-face defense and led at halftime 30-12. Bailey Massengille made back to back steals and drove in for layups plus Claire Fleming scored eight points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Jackets just could not get open looks and they scored only five second quarter points.

The second half was much like the first as Claire Fleming took over on the defensive end with four steals plus she scored nine points. Massengille made four free throws and Bre Thompson pulled down six rebounds which made the score after the third quarter 46-18. Super sub D Polk made a three pointer to start the fourth quarter and Freshman Kianna Sampson had 4 points and the Lady Bulldogs played mostly their bench as did the Lady Jackets.

Scoring totals for the Lady Bulldogs were: Fleming 22 points, Massengille 10 points and 6 steals, Green 9 points, Thompson 8 points, Powell 4 points, Sampson 4 points, Polk 3 points, and Kennedy Marshall 2 points.

Scoring totals for the Lady Jackets were: Braylee Potts 10 points, Emma Elmore 8 points, Jazmyn Dunn 4 points, Cayden Ray 3 points, Charley Dixion 2 points, and Kaleigh Dunn 1 point.

The Bulldogs came out strong, playing great defense and not turning the ball over. Trousdale County played good defense also and the first quarter ended with the Bulldogs up 8-2. Shots started to fall for Red Boiling Springs in the second quarter and the Jackets could not buy a basket and the Bulldogs led 24-7 at the break. The Bulldogs center Aubry Link had 15 first half points and seven rebounds in the first half.

The second half was a carbon copy of the first with Trousdale County showing some offensive punch, but they trailed 33-21 going into the fourth quarter. Link remained the Bulldogs best offensive weapon scoring six points while Colton Copas scored his 10th point of the game as the Bulldogs won over Trousdale County by a final score of 47-33. The backcourt duo of Joe Birdwell and Oriley Thompson combined for 12 points and their defense played a major role in the Bulldog victory. The Bulldogs have one home game left in the regular season and that is Monterey this Friday. We need your support this Friday.

Scoring totals for the Bulldogs was: Link 24 points and 12 rebounds (both career highs), Copas 10 points, Thompson 9 points, and Joe Birdwell 4 points.
