The Tennessee Titans have named Macon County Head Coach Kyle Shoulders their Coach of the Year for 2024. The award is sponsored by Whataburger.

Shoulders led his Macon County Tigers to a school record of 13-2 and their first TSSAA football championship this season. Shoulders is a Macon County native and has been the head coach at Macon for the last seven seasons.

“Coach Shoulders truly embodies the values and qualities representing the Titans Coach of the Year award. His role as head coach has been transformative for the Macon County football program resulting in a historical state championship win for the school,” Titans Vice President of Cause Marketing Josh Corey said. “He continues to work tirelessly to enrich the lives of his players on and off-the-field, developing character and sportsmanship through hard work and dedication. We are proud to honor him this year and look forward to all he will accomplish in the future.”

Shoulders started his coaching career at Macon County as an assistant on staff. He then spent six seasons as the head coach at nearby Red Boiling Springs High School. He led that program to their first post-season appearance in the program’s history in 2014.

Shoulders then spent two seasons at Oakland High School under Head Coach Kevin Creasy. When the head coaching position at Macon County came open in 2018, Shoulders was hired. In seven seasons Shoulders has become the program’s most prolific head coach, passing Dean Fisher for the most all time wins as a head coach, at 55 and counting.

As the 2024 Tennessee Titans Coach of the Year, officials said Shoulders received a $3,000 grant from the Titans and the NFL for his football program. He will also be eligible for the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year award, which honors high school football coaches who display integrity, achievement, and leadership exemplified by its namesake, who happens to hold the record for most wins in NFL history. The winner will be announced in January and comes with a substantial grant for personal and program uses.

Shoulders was recognized at Nissan Stadium this past Sunday at the Titans and Cincinnati Bengals football game in Nashville.
