A probation search at the Howell Rd. residence of 40-year-old Kevin Newman, ended in the arrest of three individuals.
According to reports filed by arresting officers from the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, Mr. Newman is on state probation in Tennessee, and officers arrived at his residence around 6 p.m. on February 20, 2025 to conduct a probation search.
Upon their arrival, officers observed Mr. Newman in the driveway. Once let inside the home by Newman and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Deborah Rice, officers asked if they were in possession of any illegal items.
Miss Rice handed officers a blue cup with four baggies inside containing approximately 5.43 grams of what is believed to be Fentanyl, along with three baggies containing approximately 12.5 grams of what is believed to be marijuana.
A set of digital scales was also located in the residence along with a handgun inside a safe and a shotgun located next to the front door.
Also inside the residence was 34-year-old Bradley Rogers, who officers recognized to have multiple active warrants out for his arrest.
While placing Rogers under arrest, officers conducted a search of his person, discovering multiple baggies inside a red container containing what is believed to be Fentanyl and a small straw with white residue on it.
A pistol, with the serial number defaced and not legible, was located in a bedroom and Rogers immediately stated that it didn’t work.
Rogers, a convicted felon, is not supposed to be around, or in possession, of a weapon.
Mr. Newman is also a convicted felon due to narcotic related charges in Shelby County in 2011.
Shortly after all three individuals were transported to the Macon County Jail to be booked, Sergeant Clint Friar noticed the red container containing Fentanyl was no longer located in the place he put it.
During the booking process the missing red container was found in Rogers’ jacket pocket, however, the contents were gone.
Once inside the jail, a marijuana joint was located in Mr. Rogers’ toboggan.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, serial number alteration, tampering with evidence, simple possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, introduction into county institution, theft of property and failure to appear. His bond was set at $52,000.
Mr. Newman was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. His bond was set at $50,000.
Miss Rice was charged with possession of a firearm during commission of felony, manufacturing of narcotics (2 cts.) and possession of methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $60,000.
All three individuals are set to appear in general sessions court on March 12.
