Lonnie Jones

Lonnie R. Jones passed from this life onto his Heavenly Home on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the age of seventy-seven years, eight months, and fourteen days.

He was born on August 21, 1948, in Macon County, Tennessee, to the late Carlean Jones and Mary Louise Smith Jones and was one of eight children born to this union. As a young man, Lonnie married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Rosser, better known as Liz, and together they were blessed with two sons. Though life led them down separate paths for a season, the love they shared never truly faded. In time, Lonnie and Liz found their way back to one another and were blessed to spend their final years side by side, cherishing the companionship and enduring bond they had always shared before her passing on October 29, 2024.

In addition to his dear wife and parents, Lonnie was also preceded in death by his Sister, Judy Faye Jones; Brothers, Freddie Jones, Carl “Hix” Jones, and Hubert Jones; and Brothers-in-law, Tommy Christian, Ralph Duffer, and Larry Sebert.

Lonnie was a self-employed carpenter and farmer, and took great pride in his work. He was a member of Light House Church. Outside of work, Lonnie enjoyed trading guns, working in his garden, and spending time outdoors. He especially treasured the simple moments shared with family and friends – conversations on the porch, laughter with loved ones, and the fellowship of those closest to him.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, quiet devotion to those he loved, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that Lonnie’s earthly labors are complete and that he has been reunited with those who went before him in his eternal Heavenly Home.
