Jeremy Whitson

By Jessie Williams

A suspect was interviewed and arrested after five vehicles were stolen from a woman and her father at a residence on Skillet Creek Road.

The woman told law enforcement the property had been broken into and the titles to the five vehicles, kept inside the house, were gone.

During the course of the investigation, one of the vehicles, a Toyota truck, was located in Sumner County and it was determined 44-year-old Jeremy Raymond Whitson, of Westmoreland, sold the vehicle on February 21, 2024.

During an interview, Whitson admitted to selling the vehicle.

On April 19. 2024, Macon County Detective Josh Meador received information Whitson scrapped three of the missing vehicles at a salvage yard in Scottsville, Kentucky.

The officer received paperwork from employees at the scrap yard showing Whitson scrapped three vehicles on March 19, March 20 and March 25 of 2024.

The salvage yard was able to confirm they sent a tow truck to the address on Skillet Creek Rd. to retrieve the vehicles, per Mr. Whitson’s request.

Whitson was also found to have a warrant out for his arrest from 2016, at which time he was found to be in possession of components used to make methamphetamine during a traffic stop by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

He was found with lighter fluid, Drano, coffee filters, lithium batteries and Rexall cold packs.

Whitson was charged with theft of property, aggravated burglary and promotion of methamphetamine manufacture. His bond is set at $30,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on April 24, 2024.
