The City of Red Boiling Springs is proud to announce the launch of its brand-new tourism logo—a fresh, unified symbol designed to celebrate the town’s charm, character, and community spirit. The Red Boiling Springs City Council met on April 10, 2025, for the monthly meeting, and discussion before it began was filled with citizens sharing their recollection of scary events surrounding the severe round of storms that traveled through Macon County last week.

“There was a bunch of people taking shelter here the other night when the tornado came through,” Red Boiling Springs Mayor Kenneth Hollis said. “They were even people here stopping out of Kentucky to take shelter. It looked like there was 200 people, so we had to open the Fire Hall up.”

“It sure scared the fire out of me,” Vice Mayor Linda Carver recalled.

Red Boiling Springs Fire Department Chief Randall Bray said, “The water level at the Palace this past go around was close to the levels when we decided we needed to evacuate the residents from the Palace (Care & Rehab Nursing Home facility) and relocate them at the school, but they receded in time. Someone from News Channel 2 called and said they wanted to say thank you to all of the first-responders who helped in the Palace evacuation in February and that they wanted to feed us all a meal on April 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the Red Boiling Springs Fire Hall.”

Present for the April City Council meeting: Council members Donna Grisham, George McCrary, Helen Gregory, Trisha Grindstaff, Michael Rich; Vice Mayor Linda Carver; Mayor Kenneth Hollis; City Recorder Jenni Fann; Attorney Branden Bellar.

Reviewing the 3rd Quarter Budget, George McCrary said, “It’s a work in progress and the Beer Tax Revenue was down some from last year because of the competition with Lafayette and the Liquor Tax.”

The following City Employees were approved for the anniversary raise: Jenni Fann (4/1/24) $1 raise; Lucas Garrett (3/28/24) $0.50; Taylon Liddle (4/7/22) $0.50.

The City Council voted to terminate Billy York for excessive absenteeism.

The Planning Commission recommended creating a noise ordinance to be introduced in the May meeting, concerning future Bitcoin manufacturers when scouting a location to install a facility in Red Boiling Springs.

In the Water Department, the City Council unamiously voted to pull $300K out of a CD housed at Macon Bank and transfer it to a CD housed at Citizens Bank, because Citizens offered a better rate. (Citizens Bank Rate: 4.25% for 12 months vs. Macon Bank Rate: 4.07% for 8 months)

Red Boiling Springs Fire Chief Randall Bray said the department went on three fire calls for the month of March and that everyone was invited to attend the RBS Music Festival on May 3.
