A 32-year-old Red Boiling Springs man was arrested for aggravated assault after allegedly beating and choking his girlfriend.

According to a report filed by RBS Chief of Police Jeffery Maynard, he was dispatched to RBS Market on June 28, 2025 in reference to a domestic dispute that had taken place at a Landy Lane residence.

Upon his arrival, he was met by the victim who had several bruises and abrasions on her head and face. She stated her boyfriend, Hector Gonzalez Rico, began beating her at their Landy Lane residence – kicking her in the face, choking her to the point she almost lost consciousness and hitting her numerous times.

The victim had a swollen jaw, fingerprints on her neck and the bridge of her nose was blackened.

Chief Maynard proceeded to the scene of the incident on Landy Lane to speak with Mr. Gonzalez, however, he refused to answer the door.

Eventually Chief Maynard, along with other officers from the RBS Police Department and officers from the Macon County Sheriff’s Department had to force the door open.

Gonzalez was located, taken into custody and transported to the Macon County Jail where he was charged with aggravated assault.

His only statement to police was that his girlfriend came home with those injuries, and he was unaware of what happened to her.

Gonzalez’s bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on July 19, 2025.
