Donna East
Donna Joyce Stafford East was the beloved daughter of the late Clyde Stafford and Elizabeth Stephens Stafford. She was born on May 15, 1934, in Macon County, Tennessee, and was gently carried by the angels to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the age of ninety-two years and five days.
In 1960, Donna married the love of her life, Billy G. East, and together they shared forty-eight wonderful and devoted years of marriage before his passing in 2008. Their life together was built on faith, love, and unwavering commitment.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Don Smith; and brother, George “Bobby” Stafford. Donna was a remarkable woman whose accomplishments reflected both determination and grace.
At a time when many women did not have the opportunity to pursue higher education, she earned her associate degree in banking from LSU, paving the way for a successful and respected career. She faithfully served First American Bank for twenty-five years, retiring as vice-president, a testament to her strong work ethic, intelligence, and leadership.
A woman of deep faith, Donna was affiliated with Lafayette United Methodist Church, where she joyfully gave of her time through volunteer work and by sharing her beautiful voice in the church choir.
She also had a lifelong love of reading and generously volunteered at the public library, always eager to encourage learning and fellowship within her community. Donna found happiness in life’s simple treasures. She loved the beauty of the outdoors, enjoyed hiking, and cherished visits to state parks. Her warm spirit, gentle heart, and servant’s nature touched countless lives, especially within her beloved community.
Donna leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, strength, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her. Donna Joyce East is survived by; Daughter, Sherill Gilliam and Grandson, Zachary Gilliam and wife, Janae.
Graveside services and interment for Donna East were conducted on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from The Walton Cemetery with Pastor Gene Martino, Jr. officiating.
