JOHNNY DORRIS WOODARD, 73

Funeral services for Johnny “Do Right” Woodard were conducted Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Doug Curtis officiating. Robby Trent, Josh Trent, Jerry Brawner, Brandon Coffie, Robert Coffie, and Josh Berry served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Holland, Kentucky.
He was born in Smith County, Tennessee on July 24, 1936 to the late Lillard Wesley and Lila Mai Davidson Woodard.
“Do Right” was married to the love of his life, Mary Lena Coffie Woodard, on July 22, 1967, sharing their lives together for almost forty-three years and raising a son; Mary survives.

He worked in local factories and on farms as a laborer all his life.  “Do Right” was a simple and strong man that had overcome many obstacles in his life. His family tells of a time that he walked from Siloam to Hartsville, no matter what the weather, rain or snow, just to go to work.  He didn’t worry about worldly possessions and never acquired many; the love of his family is all he needed. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and horseshoes, whittling with his buddies at the courthouse, and trading knives.  “Do Right” was a people person; making them laugh, telling jokes, or pulling pranks on people made his day.   His laugh was contagious.  The Senior Citizens Center meant a lot to him, he loved the activities, especially playing bingo.  When he was at home, watching wrestling on television and listening to gospel music was his past times.
He was saved in his teenage years and joined Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in 1950, where he remained a member. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
“Do Right” is survived by; wife, Mary Lena Woodard, son, David and wife Lisa Woodard all of Lafayette, TN, brother, Marion Lee and wife Janet Woodard of Bethpage, TN, sister, Sue Ellen Cummins of Gallatin, TN, three step-grandchildren,
Josh Berry, Justin Berry, and Jessica Berry; also survive.
