Funeral services for Evie Smith were conducted Monday, May 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder J.E. Shoulders and Brother Tony Day officiating. Dean Ellis, Bruce Thomas, Phillip Smith, Kevin Smith, Jeremy Givens, Joseph Tuck, Jack West, and Omar Dodson served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Evie was married to Audie W. Smith spending their lives together and sharing two sons; he preceded her in death on February 9, 1999. Besides her husband and parents; one son, Carthell Smith, brothers, Rufus Thomas, William Thomas, and Bethel Thomas; also preceded him in death.
Evie was a homemaker and worked at the Shirt Factory for a few years.  She was a simple woman who loved taking care of her home and family. You never went to her house without her wanting you to eat; no matter what the time of day. Evie enjoyed quilting and working in her garden. She loved her family and enjoyed the time they spent with her. She was saved as a young girl and joined Sycamore Valley Missionary Baptist Church, later she moved her membership to Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.
She is survived by; son, W.C. and wife Betty Smith of Lafayette, TN, granddaughter,
Denise and husband David Givens of Carthage, TN, grandson, Philip and wife Jeana Smith of Lafayette, TN, great-grandchildren, Jeremy Givens, Latora and husband Derek Carter, and Kevin Smith, great-great-grandchild, Kaden Carter, sister, Thelma Ellis, sisters in law, Pearl Thomas, and Almarene Thomas; also survive.
