In 1936, he married Cozie Gregory who preceded him in death in 1944. On January 12, 1946, he remarried Jewell Marie Veatch who also preceded him in death on February 13, 2004. In addition to his wives and parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Alberta Pennington, grandson, Ian Tooley, sons-in-law, Jackie Tooley and Gloy Pennington, sisters, Flora Verela, Mamie and Cassie Dillehay and brothers, Willard, Clarence, Frank and Sam B. Dillehay. He was a farmer and a member of the Hermitage Springs Church of Christ. Connie lived through the Hay Days of Red Boiling Springs and could tell many stories about what life was like in those days. His mind was still clear as a bell at the age of 99. He never forgot anyone that he ever met and you would learn something new from him every time you talked to him. Someone should have written a book about the trials and experiences of this man’s life.
