Thomas Wayne King, 65

Thomas Wayne King, better known as Tom, age 65, of Lafayette, TN, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  Funeral services for Tom King were conducted on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with, Elder Walter Andrews, Elder Ricky Wilson, Elder G. W. Knight, Elder Ricky Holland, and Brother Jimmy Kelley officiating. Kindell Mainon, Lanas Smith, Jody Thompson, Odean Harp, Jeffrey Thompson, Jerry Thompson served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Galen Cemetery with Military Honors. Masonic Funeral Rites were given by the Lafayette Lodge #543 Free and Accepted Masons on Saturday evening at 7pm from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home.  The family requested that memorials in the form of donations be made to the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund; these may be made in the office of the Alexander Funeral Home.  

Tom was born on December 17, 1944, to Thomas Emmett and Mildred Mae Dotson King; they both preceded him in death.
He married the love of his life, Betty Louise Thompson King on April 14, 1968, sharing forty-two wonderful years together and raising a daughter.
Tom served in the United States Army, National Guard. He began working for TRW-Ross Gear as a young man and remained there for thirty-three years, before retiring.  Following his retirement; he went to work for his son-in-law at Westmoreland Cabinet Shop.
If you asked Tom what was most important to him in life, he would reply God and family. When it came to the family, they were his pride and joy. The grandchildren could talk Papa into doing anything. Being the character that he was, you could always count on being uplifted, when in his presence.      
Tom was a great servant for the Lord and served him with humbleness and grace. Singing was a great talent that Tom had, it was something he truly enjoyed doing. He sung in different Quartets throughout his life, and he was a song leader at his Church. He was saved as a young boy and joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and remained a faithful member. Tom was also a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge #543 F&AM and the Eastern Star. He will be greatly missed by his family and church leaving a great void in so many lives.
