Funeral Services for Glenn Barton Cothron were conducted on Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home. Elder Anthony Hale and Elder Jeff Blackwell officiated and interment followed in the Howser Meador Cemetery.

Gary Harper, Lanny Robinson, Eric Hall, and the Management and Staff of Knollwood Manor and The White House Assisted Living served as Honorary Pallbearers. Jerold Cook, Wayne Hall, Larry Harper, Mike Meador, Rick Meador, Randy Norman, Tim Qualls, Kent Smith, Brent Tuttle, and Jeremy Young served as Active Pallbearers. Glenn Barton Cothron was born in Macon County, Tennessee, April 1, 1930 to Pervie Dewey Cothron and Margie Attress Barton Cothron and left this life on February 27, 2011, following a lengthy illness. On October 29, 1954, he married Jean Elizabeth Harper, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters: Melinda (Fred) Brown, and Lisa C. Cothron; two granddaughters, Lydia Brown and Maggie Cothron Stinnett; Nieces: Donna Melton, Donna Patterson, Henrietta Robinson, Cathy Jenkins, Olivia Hall, Wanda Sue Smith; and three nephews: Ronnie Johnson, Gary Harper, and Larry Raymond Harper. He was preceded in death by is parents; his sister, Melba Dean Johnson; and his special uncle and aunt, Foster Barton and Sella Barton. Mr. Cothron was saved as a young man and united with Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church in 1943. He was a 50-year member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge, #543. He worked for the Macon County Highway Department for several years, retired from TRW Ross Gear, after which he continued to farm. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Having lost his father at a young age, during the depths at the Depression, he encouraged his daughters and granddaughters to get a good education. His quiet strength will be greatly missed by those who love him. He was a good man.
