Funeral Services for Mr. Billy Roark were conducted Wednesday night at 8 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Steve Peeler and Elder Dean Dyer officiating.

Billy Bransfield, Jimmy Cox, Tim Johns, Colby Jones, Jerry Shoulders, Freddie Fuqua, Joseph Johnson, William Sullivan, Chris Harrison, Wyatt Harrison, Joe Barber, Tim Rush, Penny Kirby, Helen Howser, and Vanessa Ragland served as Honorary Pallbearers. Ben Bray, Greg White, Mike Frye, Bobby Greer, Daniel Keith and Jeremy Robinson served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery.
Billy was born on November 30, 1931 in Allen County, Kentucky to Henry and Cora Isabelle Brooks Roark. He was one of three children born to this union. Besides his parents; two brothers, Carson Roark and Harlin Roark, and one granddaughter, Angel Marie Johnson also preceded him in death. On August 3, 1954, Billy married the love of his life the former Joanna Freeman. They shared fifty-six years together and four children. He loved and cherished his family and liked to tell about the times spent with the grandkids. He worked for Carter Automotive for 21 years, before retiring. Billy’s weekends were spent doing something he enjoyed most, being an auctioneer. He worked for Lafayette Auction and Real Estate for over thirty-years and later went to work for Ben Bray. He enjoyed raising gardens and was always giving away his crop. Billy liked coming by in the mornings and drinking coffee with the men at Alexander Funeral Home. Usually he would say “Well better get back and check on Joanna”. He had a personality like no other; always a smile on his face and something funny to say. Billy didn’t care what he had to do to help raise money for someone in need. If he had to dress in something unlike himself it was alright, and he was usually successful. Being an active man in the community, best describes Billy. He certainly will be missed when it comes time to work at the fairgrounds or help get things ready for Hillbilly Days. Billy was a member of the Lafayette Lions Club for many years. In 1987, He received the Will Hall Sullivan Award. Billy was a member of the Lafayette Church of Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family and the community. Billy is survived by; Wife, Joann Freeman Roark, Daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Roy) Swindle, Carolyn Sue Sullivan and companion Steve Veatch, and Mary Ruth Crook, Son, Billy Joe (Peggy) Roark, Dear Friend, Mary Ruth Halcomb, Grandchildren, Rebecca Ann (Chris) Harrison, Joseph Matthew (Tonia) Johnson, and William Christopher Sullivan, Great-grandchildren, Libby Sullivan and Wyatt Harrison also survive.
