Memorial services for Cdr. Homer W. Greenway USCGR (Ret.), 97, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in the Angel of Joy Lutheran Church with Reverend Paul Geye and Reverend Bob Elliot officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home, with inurnment in he Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. He was inurned on April 28, 2011.

Cdr. Greenway was born April 18, 1913 in Holt Summit, Missouri to Otto Ray and Cora (McBride) Greenway, and dies Wednesday, November 10. 2010 in a local hospital.
Cdr. Greenway enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 and received his commission at the Coast Guard Academy in 1945. He served in the South Pacific during World War II. Cdr. Greenway served 4 years Active Duty and 28 years in the Coast Guard Reserve, retiring as Commander in April 1973.
Cdr. Greenway received his Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Science Degree from Florida State University and was a Guidance Counselor at Palm Springs Jr. High School in Hialeah, Fl. For 15 years. He retired in 1979.
Cdr. Greenway lived for many years in Miami Springs, Fl., Clayton, Georgia (where he grew blueberries in the summer for many years), and Niceville, Fl. Before moving to Lufkin in 2003.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Dorothy Greenway of Lufkin; son, Jerry Greenway of Lafayette, TN.; stepdaughters, Pamela Grant and husband Dick of Livingston and Carolyn Gruber and husband Bob of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Ellie Greenway, David Gruber and Rachel Saks; and niece, Gale Klebba.
