Jerry Douglas Howser, age
68, of the Wixtown Community in Macon County, TN went home to be with Jesus on
September 27, 2011 at Vanderbilt Medical Center after a farming accident.
Funeral services for Jerry Douglas Howser were conducted Saturday, at 2 p.m. from
Millers Chapel General Baptist Church. Masonic Services were held at
Millers Chapel Cemetery by Trammel Lodge #436, Interment followed.

The Deacons of Millers Chapel
Church served as Honorary Pallbearers. Gerald Brown, Danny McCormick,
Brandon Owen, Bryan Jenkins, Jerryn Howser, Justin Thompson, Randy McCormick,
John Crowder, Kyle Owen, and Tony Owen served as Active Pallbearers. Jerry
Douglas Howser was born on Sunday, November 15, 1942 in the Rocky Mound
Community of Macon County, Tennessee to the late Odis Aldo Howser and Gladys
Paulene Linville Howser. He was saved and professed his faith in Christ as Lord
during a revival at Oak Dale general Baptist Church at the age of 16. Jerry
married his sweetheart Doyle Mae Scruggs on November 15, 1960 in which they
celebrated over 50 years of marriage. He was a member of Miller’s Chapel
General Baptist Church. Jerry was ordained as a Deacon by the Mt. Union
Association in 1974. He served the church faithfully and loved it very much. He
was a member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #543, Trammel Masonic Lodge #436,and
the Lafayette Order of Eastern Stars #379. He served as Past master of
Lafayette Lodge in 2009 and again in 2010. He retired from Bosch Automotive
with many years of service in 1998. He was also a lifelong farmer raising
tobacco, hogs, chickens, and corn, but more recently concentrated on beef
cattle and hay. Jerry was known by many titles: Son, Brother, Husband, Daddy,
Granddaddy, Christian Brother, Deacon, Masonic Brother, Cousin, Uncle, Nephew,
Caregiver, Neighbor, Co-Worker, Farmer, and Friend. Jerry loved to fish but
loved to eat fish even more. He enjoyed life, serving his Lord and church, and
supporting his family. He will be remembered as a good man and hard worker. He
will be known as Granddaddy to 6 grandchildren that thought he hung the moon,
and he loved them dearly. He was the best Christian Daddy anyone could ever
hope for. He will be greatly missed by his family, church family, Masonic
family and all who knew him. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. Jerry is survived by;
Wife, Doyle Mae Howser of the Wixtown Community in Macon County, TN, Daughters,
Penny Jenkins of Westmoreland, TN, and Pamela (Tony) Owen of Bethpage, TN, Son,
Reverend Terry (Audrey) Howser of Lafayette, TN, Sister, Wilma (Reverend
Harold) King of Westmoreland, TN, Grandchildren, Staff Specialist, Brandon Owen
of Fort Hood, TX, Aleisha (Justin) Thompson of Bethpage, TN, Private Kyle
(Samantha) Owen of Gallatin, TN, Clara Howser, Bryan Jenkins, and Jerryn
Howser, Masonic brother and lifelong friend, Jerry Williams, aunts, nieces,
numerous other relatives, and friends, also survive.
