Tigerettes Tame Lady Bobcats

On Tuesday January 10th Macon County High School hosted Greenbrier. The Bobcats are facing the Tigers in District 9 AA for the first time this season.
Once again the Tigerettes came ready to play. Junior guard Kailyn Brooks came out on a mission, scoring 10 of her game high 15 points in the first period alone. The Girls jumped out to a 24-11 lead after the first period.
Coach Beam seems to be settling in with the Tigerettes. In the second period he was able to rotate quite a few bench players in and out. Most fans hope that mixing in these girls and getting them valuable and quality playing time will pay off in a post-season push, in games as well as at practice. Eleven different players played in the second period and seven of them scored. The Tigerettes led 45-19 and the half.
The starters came back to begin the third period. Greenbrier made a push in the third but the Tigerettes were able to keep them at arm’s length. At the end of three the score was 64-34.
I did not know until this season that there was a mercy rule in high school basketball. When one team is up by 35 points, the clock never stops. Macon was able to keep the clock running in the fourth and the Bobcats only scored two points in the entire period. Final score was MCHS 77 Greenbrier 36.
Scoring for the Tigerettes were: Kelsey Gregory 3, Kailyn Brooks 15, Terra Pryor 6, Katie Reid 9, Calamity Coley 9, Katelyn Bean 5, Briley Driver 9, Reece Shrum 4, Whitney Wilburn 3, Michaela Thompson 7, Jade Ellis 3, and Leah Anderson 4. Macy Kemp and Alyssa Tuck played hard but did not score.
