Barry Wayne Enoch, 76

Barry Wayne Enoch, of Lafayette, was born on Saturday, May 23, 1936, to the late William Kenneth and Lelia Virginia Lee Enoch. He departed this life on Tuesday morning, December 25, 2012 at the age of 76 years. Funeral services for Barry Enoch were conducted from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 30th with Brother Johnny Beaver officiating. Interment with military honors followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.  Honorary pallbearers were the Navy Seals. Pallbearers were Zachari Enoch, Chase Enoch, Ryan Enoch, Austin Enoch, Darby Enoch and Adam Lawson. On June 24, 1955, he was married to the former Miss Loleta Williams, who survives. As a young man of 19, Barry joined the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Navy SEAL Team One, the first group of Seals formed by former President John F. Kennedy. As a leader and instructor, he was described as “hard and relentless”. A fellow SEAL commented that “his confidence radiated into every member of his SEAL Squad and Platoon”. Barry retired from the Navy after 19 years of service, but will be remembered as a legendary SEAL operator of renowned reputation. During his retirement, he was a member of Quails Unlimited, Kiwanis, and the VFW; was a volunteer fire fighter, career fire fighter, scouts master, a hunter and safety instructor, as well as a Gideons instructor. Barry was also involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Cross Partners Ministry and was of the Southern Baptist belief. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Laura Enoch of Redmond, OR; Michael and Misty Enoch of Mt. Pleasant, NC; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and DeWayne Kalista of Bremerton, WA; grandchildren, Jessica Lawson, Cheyenne Payne, Laramie Amezquita, Zachari Enoch, Chase Enoch, Ryan Enoch, Austin Enoch, Darby Enoch and Ryder Kalista; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sandra Overton and Pat Eissler, both of Lafayette.
