Ester Vera Lee Brooks Bohanon, 94
Ester Vera Lee Brooks Bohanon, better known as Vera Lee was born in Macon County, Tennessee on October 28, 1918 to the late Smith and Essie Butrum Brooks. She was one of four siblings born to this union. As a young woman, Vera Lee was married to the love of her life, Vernie Bohanon on December 22, 1934. They shared sixty-five wonderful years together and raised two daughters and one son. On June 20, 2000, Vernie preceded her in death. Besides her husband and parents, one son, Ferrell Thomas Bohanon, step-dad, Porter Law, and brothers, Glen Law and Floyd Brooks, also preceded her in death. Vera Lee worked as a seamstress for over thirty years for Form-fit Rogers. Later on, she went to work for Mildred’s Decorating for fifteen years. She was a member of White Oak Church of Christ. Vera Lee loved feeding her family on Sunday’s. Just having her family around; made Vera Lee’s life complete. Vera Lee enjoyed sewing and working in her flower garden. She had a green thumb when it came to her ferns. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always wore a smile. On April 26, 2013 at the age of 94, the Lord called Vera Lee home. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her. Funeral Services Vera Lee Brooks Bohanon were conducted on Tuesday, April 30, at 2 p.m. from the White Oak Church of Christ with Mike Rogers officiating. Zach Shockley, Justin Roark, Garon Cline, Coltin Jenkins, and Kamren Scruggs served as Honorary Pallbearers. Eddie Rich, Ronnie Shockley, Greg Cline, Corey Jenkins, Shawn Scruggs, Nick Robinson, and Josh Coulter served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Underwood Cemetery. Vera Lee is survived by, Daughters and Sons-in-law, Lavonna (Frankie) Shockley and Diane (Mark) Roark, Daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Bohanon, Grandchildren, Ronnie (Jackie) Shockley, Regina (Eddie) Rich, Kim (Shawn)Scruggs, April (Greg) Cline, Chrissy (Corey) Jenkins, Ashley (Josh) Coulter, Kita (Nick) Robinson, Brother, Calvin Law, and eleven Great-Grandchildren, also survive.
