Baxter Glendal Goad, known to many friends and family as “Bo”, age 86, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. Funeral services for Baxter Goad were conducted on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder Ricky Holland and Brother Daniel Cook officiating. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers were Dan Oliver, John Gregory, John Smith, Tommy Thomas, Arnold Rich, Jerry Rich, Jackie Rich, Jocella Halliburton and Jackie Russell. Active pallbearers were Andy Goad, Deven Harp, Blake Francis, Kenny Kemp, Ronnie Kemp, Jackie Kemp and Steve Hesson. Born on August 24, 1927 in Macon County, Tennessee, he was one of three children born to the late Homer and Bertie (Clay) Goad. He was married to the former Jean Donoho on July 2, 1952 and they spent 62 wonderful years together before the Lord called Baxter home. Fifty years of his life was spent working at the Rich Lumber Company, starting as a carpenter for a few years and then the remaining time he worked as a truck driver hauling logs. Like most people his age, he also farmed and raised a garden. He had been attending Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for the last several years. Two sisters, Ruth Hesson and Lois Goad, and a grandson, Brad Jackson, preceded him in death. Besides his wife, he leaves behind a son, Wayne Goad of Lafayette; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Richardson & George Morris of White House, Becky and Eddie Moss of Red Boiling Springs, Teresa Colwell of Scottsville, KY; grandchildren, Andy Goad, Scott Richardson, Miranda Francis, Blake Francis, Deven Harp, Tanisha Colwell; great-grandchildren, Keeley Jackson, Kaden Carter, Kerrigan Carter, and Star Richardson. He was a good husband, daddy and pa, and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
