Tigers Pick-Up First Win

The Macon County Tigers picked up their first win of the 2015 campaign over the Westmoreland Eagles.


The Tigers won by a final score of 33-15.

Macon received the opening kick-off and drove the ball right down the field. Seth Carlisle got on the board with a 29 yard run and the kick by Avera failed. Tigers lead 6-0. After a big defensive stop inside their own 5 yard line, Macon marches right back and Carlisle hits Evan Perrigo for an 86 yard TD reception. Avera’s kick again fails and Tigers lead 12-0. With 0:53 left in the first half Matt Austin scores on a 3 yard run and Avera’s kick is good. The Tigers go to the locker room leading 19-0.

The Tigers came out in the second half and didn’t lose their focus. Both teams were held in check the entire third quarter. With 11:54 left in the contest Austin scored on a 13 yard run and Avera’s kick was good and Macon had a 26-0 lead. Following an Eagle score the Tigers answered with a Carlisle 37 yard run and Avera kick to lead 33-7. The Eagles added a late score while both teams substituted as many players as they could get into the game. Final Macon 33 Westmoreland 15.

Seth Carlisle was 5 of 8 for 110 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. He also added 175 yards on 13 carries with 2 TDs. Matt Austin had 2 TDs on 13 carries and 50 yards. Evan Perrigo had 101 yards on 3 catches with 1 TD. Junior Tyler Swindle led all tacklers with 9 and had 1 stop for a loss.

The Tigers will begin Region 4-4A play next week when they travel to Nashville to take on the Pearl Cohn Firebirds. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
