Tiger Baseball Defeats York
The Macon County Tigers grabbed two wins this week. They played York in a home-away match the first part of this past week.
The first game against the Dragons was at home on the 21st. Macon grabbed the lead in the 1st inning and scored in every other inning. Clay Carnahan go the complete game win throwing 5 innings with only 2 earned runs on 7 scattered hits and 9 strike outs. Aaron Colter led the Tigers at the plate hitting 3 for 3, scoring 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Logan Thompson had 3 RBIs while Tyler Gann and Carnahan both scored 4 runs. Final score MCHS 16 York 6.
On the 22nd the Tigers made the return trip to Jamestown in a much closer and competitive game. Macon trailed 3-4 after the 5th and took the lead in the 6th, only to have York tie the game 5-5 in the bottom of the 6th. Macon would plate 2 runs and hold on for the 7-5 win to complete the sweep. Austin Herbert threw 5 1/3 innings and gave up only 2 earned runs on 5 hits in his no decision. Michael Ashburn gets the win pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up only 2 hits. Ashburn went 2 for 3 with 1 run and 3 RBIs while Trent Boles recorded 2 RBIs.
The Tigers were scheduled to host the Straw Hat Classic on the 25th and 26th. Due to weather it was postponed on the 25th and data wasn’t available at presstime.
During spring break the Tigers are scheduled to travel to Cannon County on the 28th and host them on the 29th. They will face Gordonsville on the 31st in a non conference game to close out the month.
