Tigers pick up three wins
The Macon County Tigers picked up three wins this week on the baseball diamond. They had one game at home and two on the road.
On Tuesday Mar 17th Macon hosted Station Camp for a frigid outing. In a pitcher’s duel the Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning to grab the victory by a final score of 2-1.
Eli Carver had a masterful day on the mound hurling seven innings and scattering seven hits with no earned runs. Emerson McClard had a hit and scored a run as did Matthew Wheeley. Chase Keene had the only other hit for Macon in the game.
On Thursday Mar 19 Macon traveled to Stone Memorial. Leading 1-0 the Tigers managed to pull away in the top of the 7th plating three more runs to get the win by a final of 4-0.
Matthew Wheeley got the complete game victory throwing all seven innings and allowing only one hit. Hayden Dean and Chase Keene both went 2 for 3 and Keenan White, Ty Bilbrey, and Jake Meador collected the other hits.
Macon ended the week on Saturday Mar 20 with a game at Clay County. With the game tied 3-3 Macon broke open the game in the top of the 8th inning on a sac fly by White to plate two runs. Macon went on to win by a final of 6-3.
Gunner Carlisle started the game and threw seven innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs with 11 strike-outs. Roman Brawner got the win and a save in his one inning of work and gave up no runs and no hits.
This week the Tigers are scheduled to play at Central Magnet on Mar 24, host Westmoreland on Mar 26, and then play at Jackson County on Mar 28th.
