Melvin C. Cantrell, age 84 of Lafayette, TN passed away Saturday morning, March 28, 2026 at The Palace Healthcare & Rehab Center in Red Boiling Springs. The family has chosen cremation and there are no services planned at this time.

Melvin C. Cantrell was born May 8, 1941 in the Portland, Tennessee. A son born to the late Melvin & Gracie Scruggs Cantrell and departed this life March 28, 2026 at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 20 days. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie Cantrell & Thomas McCormick. Melvin married Shirley Woods November 14, 2020. They shared 6 wonderful years together. Melvin worked as a truck driver for Ryder for 40 years and he was a member of Lafayette Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Wife, Shirley Cantrell of Lafayette, Son, Melvin Cantrell & wife, Sharon of Portland, Daughters, Shellia Cantrell & companion, Billy Gregory of Westmoreland, Tersia Craig & husband, Jeff of Portland, Step-Grandsons, Ronnie Whittemore & wife, Tammie, Ricky Whittemore, Numerous Grandchildren, Nieces & nephews, Beloved pet, Brenda, Brother, Larry Scruggs of Mount Pleasant, TN, Sister-in-law, Norma Jean Cantrell of Portland.
