Jim Witcher Jr

James Fred “Jim” Witcher, Jr. passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026.
He was born to James Fred Witcher, Sr. and Barbara “Tootsie” Witcher on September 4, 1949. A native of Macon County, Jim’s early years were spent in Witcher Hollow before his family moved to Lafayette.
Jim loved life and the experiences that came with it. His family and friends never tired of hearing stories of places he visited and people he met. Of those places, Jim’s favorites were his cabin in Ashland City; Center Hill Lake, where he was an accomplished slalom skier; and Stamping Ground, Kentucky, his second home.
Jim spent decades as a sales representative for Peterbilt and Kenworth and in the trucking industry. He took great pride in his work but also took time for the enjoyments of life. He was a fan of live music from Classic Rock at the Municipal Auditorium to organ concerts at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. He also loved a good meal, especially if he had a role in preparing it. Jim was not a fan of sitting still. If he was not tinkering, Jim was playing with dogs Otis and Annie and cat Seymour.
Jim is survived by his wife Denise Witcher, for whom their 15 years together was not enough; daughter Necole (Rick) Bell and granddaughter Isabella Beene; Denise’s daughter Crystal (Matt) Wilson and bonus grandchildren Bonnie and Waylon. He is also survived by siblings Kathy Huber, Rebecca Williams, Barry Witcher, Tammy Nelson, and Leah Witcher. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews who considered Jim a second father.
Jim’s final act of generosity was choosing to be an Anatomical Donor to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
