Some Religious Questions Answered

Is it right to call a Preacher “Reverend?”
The word “Reverend” is used only one time in the King James Version of the Bible. “He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name” (Psalm 111:9). The word “reverend” refers to God in this passage.
Since we find no reference to The Reverend John or The Reverend Paul in the Bible, God’s Word, we are forced to conclude that this practice must have originated somewhere other than in the mind of God.
For finite man to appropriate to himself a title that refers to God is presumptuous. What an ego some men have!

A preacher told me that my little girl, who died when she was young, had gone to hell because we (her parents were not Christians). Is he right?
No, he is wrong as wrong can be. Children who are not old enough to choose the right and refuse the wrong are safe.
When David’s infant son died he said, “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me” (II Samuel 12:23).
Children do not become guilty of sin because of the sin of their parents. “The soul the sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him” (Ezekiel 18:20).
Little children are safe. When they die, they do not die the death of the wicked. They are safe. Therefore, they will be saved in heaven; they do not inherit the sins of their parents.
That preacher needs to quit preaching and do something he is better qualified to do.
Where did Cain find his wife?
If Adam and Eve were the only two people created, where did Cain find a wife? This question has been asked many times.
“And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch…”(Genesis 4:17).
This is what the Bible says. This may leave questions unanswered in the minds of some people. But the Bible is not a book to answer every interesting question that we might ask.
Many thought-provoking questions have been presented through the years: Where did the races begin? Did the wall of Jericho fall in or out? Where did Jesus get his clothes when he rose from the dead? What was Paul’s thorn in the flesh?
Folks, our relationship to God don’t depend upon the answers to the above questions.
“The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law”(Deuteronomy 29:29).
Does the Bible says Christians today can handle snakes, and if they bite them, it won’t hurt them?
No it doesn’t. Enough said. People twist the Scriptures to come up with this doctrine to try to prove their faith. I’ve got faith, but I’ve also got sense. I’m like Wendy Bagwell, if “they” come out with a snake where I attend, I’ll look for a door, and if I can’t find one then I’ll ask, “Reckon where do they want one?) I’m sorry, but the practice of handling snakes to prove one’s faith is rooted in ignorance, not faith.
