Funeral services for Willie Delmas Atkins were conducted on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with E.C. Meadows officiating. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park with military honors.  His family and friends served as pallbearers.

Willie was born Saturday, July 28, 1945 in Jackson County, TN, one of six siblings born to the late Earl Thomas and Clora Jane Witcher Atkins.  On October 9, 1965, he married the former Shirley Honaker, who survives.  He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for the Macon County Board of Education, a member of the Lafayette Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  Willie loved to fish and was really looking forward to getting his senior fishing license.
