Mr. Ricky Wayne Woodard, age 55, of Westmoreland, died Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Funeral Services for Mr. Woodard will be held, 2:00 PM Wednesday June 23, 2010 from the Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Doyle Farris and Bro. Dewayne Oldham officiating. Interment will be in Eulia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Mon, June 21st from 2PM to 9PM, Tue. June 22nd 9AM-9PM and Wed. June 23rd 9AM till service time.
He is survived by: Wife Judy Elaine Jiles Woodard of Westmoreland, Daughter Nicole Woodard Graves of Westmoreland, Granddaughter Kalista Graves of Westmoreland, Brother Larry & (Josie) Woodard of Lexington, KY, Sisters Joyce & (Bill) Smith of Gallatin, Linda & (Calvin) Collins of Gallatin, Doris & (Edward) Smith of Bethpage, Karen & (Chubby) Simons of Westmoreland & Janice Stinson of Westmoreland, Mother-in-law Frances Jiles of Westmoreland. 
He is preceded in death by: Daughter Holly Fran Woodard, Parents H. E. and Nellie Woodard, Brother Buddy Woodard, Father-in-law Hubert Jiles and Uncles C. C. Woodard and Charles Woodard. 
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to one of the following: Eulia Cemetery, American Cancer Society, Westmoreland Church of Christ or Westmoreland Public Library.

Ricky Wayne Woodard was born March 29th, 1955 to Hugh and Nellie Woodard in Madison, TN. The 6th child, he joined Joyce, Linda, Buddy, Dorris and Janice. Later, he welcomed another brother, Larry and last but not least, his baby sister, Karen.
In June 1975, he met and married Judith Elaine Jiles and became a father to Nicole.  In 1980, the family welcomed Holly Fran, and in that same year, Ricky became a member of the Westmoreland Church of Christ family.  Even though Holly was only with us a short time, Ricky was a wonderful and supportive husband and father even after her death.
In June of 1998, Ricky became the proud, proud grandfather of Holly Kalista Graves.  Known as Pa’s Peanut, there was absolutely no greater love than the bond they shared.
Family ties were important to Ricky, but he was not just limited to being there for Judy, Nicole and Kalista.  He believed in his community too.  He never said “I can’t or I don’t have the time” when ask to do anything.  He began his community service in the early 1980’s by serving as councilman and vice mayor of Westmoreland.  He was an active member of the Westmoreland Jaycees for many years.  He served as an EMT and worked with the Civil Defense.  Although he did not have a son, he served as an assistant scout master to help get the program started in Westmoreland.  In the latter part of the 1980’s and early 90’s, he served as chairman of the Library Board.  Following long, hard work and determination, he was among those who realized their dream of having a public library constructed for the city of Westmoreland.  In 1992, Ricky was named to a position on the Sumner County Library Board.  He served on the American Red Cross Board of Directors, and when asked to help reorganize the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce, he was immediately willing. He was nominated to serve on the Board of Directors and had remained an active member of the chamber until his passing.  In 1993, he received the News Examiners first Citizen of the Year Award.
Today, Ricky remained an active part of the community that he loved so dear.  He was currently in his last term as Mayor of Westmoreland.  He still served on the WHS advisory board.  He was the Chartered President of the Westmoreland Lions Club.
In 1993, the News Examiner quoted in the article for Citizen of the Year that Ricky received, “make the world a better place with your passing” and Ricky Woodard, was that personified.
