Victor Kenneth Jenkins, age 76, of Cedar Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Father George Chennapallil officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 4-8 pm and Monday morning until the time of service.

Mr. Jenkins was born February 18, 1934 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Victor Hermit and Helen Phillips Jenkins. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army from 1953 until 1974. After his military service he worked as Director of Maintenance at Scarritt College until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and loved hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and enjoyed spending time watching football and car racing with his family.

In addition to his parents Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Jenkins and Roy Jenkins and a sister, Imogene Jenkins. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Altmeyer Jenkins; sons David (Donna) Jenkins of Atlanta, GA, Darryl (Karin) Jenkins of Cedar Hill; daughters Audra (Nicholas Miller of Rockvale, TN; brothers, Gerald Jenkins of Madison, Russell Jenkins of Scipio, IN and Marcus Jenkins of Lancaster, OH; sisters Loucille Kaericher and Sylvia Dean Long, both of Hermitage; grandchildren, Kenneth James Jenkins, Alexandris Jenkins, Jessica Conrad, Kelsea Jenkins, Michael Conkin, Aaron Miller, Victoria Miller and Kaden Miller; and one great-grandson, Sanniyah Conrad.
