This coming Saturday, October 30, we will be playing in the 13th annual Lions Bowl here at Pat Parker Memorial Field. Beginning at 9:00 AM, the LSU Tigers will be playing the Spartans; at 10:15 Bama will be playing the Tigers; at 11:30 the Titans will be playing the Vols; at 12:45 the Cowboys will be playing the Westmoreland Raiders; at 2:00 the Bulldogs will be playing the Westmoreland Jets; at 3:15 the Steelers will be playing the Westmoreland Eagles and at 4:30 the Blue Raiders will be playing the Westmoreland Titans.
Our regular season came to an end this past Saturday as the flag division played their last games and received their trophies from the league. Each of our 6 teams seemed to improve over the season and we look forward to having them all come back and play next year also. We want to thank all of the coaches who volunteered their time to this league and the kids this season and also thanks to all the parents who allowed your child to play this year.
The 1st 6-8 game had the Vols defeating the Tigers in OT 12-6. For the Vols, Matthew Murphy had 135 yards, 1 TD and 5 tackles; Luke Robinette had 60 yards and 6 tackles; and Trace Holmes and Brandon Jones had 3 tackles each. For the Tigers, Isaac Belton had the touchdown.
The 2nd 6-8 game had Bama winning over the Titans 24-14. For Bama, Logan Locker had 105 yards, 1 TD and a 2-pt conversion; Conner Johnson had 90 yards, 1 TD, a 2-pt conversion and 8 tackles; Cameron Houston had 61 yards, 1 TD, a 2-pt conversion and 5 tackles; Jordan Steen had 5 tackles; Tyler Jenkins had a 2-pt conversion and Will Talley had a 2-pt conversion and 3 tackles. For the Titans, Curtis Oliver had 181 yards, 2 TD’s and 7 tackles; Brian Kirby had 50 yards; Wesley Carver had 25 yards; Logan Williams had 23 yards; Brandon Jenkins had a 2-pt conversion and 3 tackles; and Michael Matthews had 2 tackles.
The 3rd game was a 9-12 game and had the Steelers defeating the Spartans 32-0. For the Steelers, Jason Sewell had a TD; Tanner Cleary had a TD; Mason Warfield had a TD; Josh Tirjan had a TD and Spencer Tirjan had a TD. For the Spartans, Jordan Powell had 25 yards and 2 tackles; Christopher Birchfield had 27 yards and 3 tackles; Matthew Trent had 5 tackles; and Dylan Texcahua, Luke Texcahua and Christopher Oliver had 2 tackles each.
The 4th game was a 9-12 game and had the Blue Raiders winning over the Bulldogs 28-6. For the Blue Raiders, Cayden Shrum had 148 yards, 2 TD’s a 1-pt conversion and 5 tackles; Bailey Law had 102 yards, 2 TD’s, a 1-pt conversion and 5 tackles; Hunter Dickens had 22 yards and 2 1-pt conversions; Houston Stafford had 6 tackles; and Dylan Glasgow and Brian Swindle had 4 tackles each. For the Bulldogs, Seth Carlisle had 115 yards, 1 TD and 6 tackles; Riley Phillips had 27 yards and 5 tackles; Shane Whitefield had 7 tackles; Jared Whitefield, Zach Emmitt and Landon Wix had 5 tackles each; and Lee Pruitte and Kelton Ballou had 3 tackles each.
The 5th game was a 9-12 game and had the LSU Tigers defeating the Cowboys 20-8. For LSU, Braxton Crawford had 122 yards and 4 tackles; Bryson Smith had 44 yards, 2 TD’s and 4 tackles; Tyler Swindle had 12 tackles; Tyler Johns had 7 tackles; James Dorris had 5 tackles; and Aaron Kirby had 4 tackles. For the Cowboys, Taylor Carman had 56 yards and 4 tackles; Cole Carnahan had 26 yards and 4 tackles; Seth Barber had 26 yards and 2 tackles; Chase Whittemore had 8 tackles; Trent Boles had 6 tackles and Chase Long had 3 tackles.
Everyone in the community needs to come out and support our local teams this coming Saturday as they play against some visiting teams from Westmoreland. Show your support for our local future stars!
