 Mr. Wendell Oliver Holmes, age 69, of Westmoreland died Monday, November 22, 2010 at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral Services for Mr. Holmes will be held, Wednesday, Nov. 24th @ 2 PM from the Lakeside Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Glenn Creasy officiating. Interment will be in Sumner Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be: Tues. Nov. 23rd 4PM-9PM from Woodard Funeral Home and Wed. Nov. 24th 9AM-Service time from Lakeside Church
He is survived by wife Ruby Irene Crook Holmes (married March 27, 1958) of Westmoreland, daughter Ruby Jean Holmes Nuckols of Portland, sons Bill Holmes of Bethpage and Wendell Holmes, Jr. of Westmoreland, brothers Shep Holmes of Westmoreland, Johnny Holmes of Alabama, Jerry Holmes of Westmoreland, Jimmy Holmes of North Carolina, Tommy Holmes of Westmoreland, Willie Holmes of Westmoreland and Larry Holmes of Portland, sisters Martha Tinsley of Hartsville, Brenda Simpson of Gallatin, Melba York of Westmoreland and Wanda Christine Wade of Gallatin, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by parents J. C. “Popcorn” and Reba Butler Holmes, sister Helen Moss and brother Jewell Holmes.
Mr. Holmes attended Hartsville Church of God of Prophecy. He was retired from Sunbelt/Timbar Company and was currently serving on the Westmoreland Town Council.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made in the form of donations to the Westmoreland Civil Defense or the Parkinsons Research Foundation  in memory of Mr. Wendell Holmes.
