Williams, better known as C. D., age 84, of Lafayette, passed away early on Wednesday, February 2, at Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services for C. D. Williams were conducted Friday, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Dean Dyer officiating.

Fellow Police Officers that served on the City Force with him, served as Pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Union Camp Cemetery. C.D. was born in Macon County, Tennessee on October 4, 1926 to the late Artle Hayes and Viola Woodard Williams. Besides his parents; a granddaughter, Chelsea Williams and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Williams, also preceded him in death. C.D. was married as a young man and had five children that he loved dearly. He was a truck driver for Roadway for a short time; then managed an apartment complex in Nashville. He became a police officer working for the City for sixteen years before retiring in 1991. After retiring, C.D. enjoyed watching the Braves play ball and watching Westerns on television. Chewing tobacco and listening to gospel music was his favorite pastime. He was an ordained minister, and over the years he had pastured several churches.  C.D. was a member of Hayesville Missionary Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. C.D. is survived by; Daughter, Dawn (William) Springston of Madison, TN, Sons,
Tommy (Dottie) Williams of Gallatin, TN, Ronald Williams of Nashville, TN, Larry (Sherie) Williams of Gallatin, TN, Kent (Aggie) Williams of Nashville, TN, Twelve grandchildren, and Twenty-eight great-grandchildren, also survive.
