The Sin of Silence

Sometimes silence is wise. Job speaks of the wisdom of silence (Job 13:5). Solomon wrote that there is such a thing as too much talk (Eccles 5:3). We can sum it up by saying what Solomon wrote in Proverbs 10:14: “A wise man holds his tongue.”

But there are times when silence is a sin. There were times when Jesus didn’t silent. He didn’t keep silent when wicked men were abusing people (John 8:1-11; Galations 6:2). He didn’t keep silent when the money changers were trying to turn the house of God into a den of thieves (Matthew 21:10-13).
The greatest sin today is the silent pulpit. America’s heritage and righteousness have gone down the drain because good men have kept silent. They’ve kept silent about God. They’ve kept silent about the sacredness of life. Abortion had flourished in this politically correct society. Today’s anti-God society is doing all it can to silent our faith. In Frenchtown, New Jersey, an elementary school student was told she couldn’t sing about God in an after-school talent show. In Boyd County, Kentucky, parents were told they couldn’t “opt out” their children from school “diversity training” that promotes homosexual behavior and undermines their religious beliefs.
These cases are only a drop in the bucket of forced silence engulfing Christian citizens all over the country.
The threat is real.
The ACLU is not invincible. The ACLU and its allies are strong forces in America today that want to censor Christian expression. Our own President doesn’t like the expression “In God We Trust.”
Here is something to think about: “If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”
