Gordonsville Wins over RBS
The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs have never beaten Gordonsville in football and there were many Bulldog faithful who thought that this year might be the year.
However the record still stands as the Tigers smacked the Bulldogs by a final score of 31-7.
This was a game of mistakes by both sides before the Tigers finally scored a touchdown that took 7 plays and 5 minutes off the clock. The Tigers took advantage of some Bulldogs mistakes to score right before halftime to go to the break with a 17-0 lead.
The Tigers added 2 more touchdowns in the third quarter to go up 31-0 and the near sold out crowd started to head for the exits. The Bulldogs had some energy left to dent their side of the scoreboard when Bulldog Quarterback Logan Hewitt found his brother open for a 40 yard pass completion with 4 minutes left in the game but no more threats to score could take place and the game ended with the Tigers winning 31-7.
The Bulldogs just committed way too many mistakes and the Tigers took advantage where as the Bulldogs failed to put points on the scoreboard when the Tigers made their mistakes.
This game ends the season for the Bulldogs who finished with a won-lost record of 4 wins and 6 losses. Most of the skills players will be back next year so the Bulldogs look to improve and make the playoffs for only the second time in school history.
Congratulations to Head Coach Kyle Shoulders and his small staff for all the hard work that they put in to do the best job they can do. Coach Shoulders wants to say thanks to the kids and their parents for all the hardships they went thru just so their kids can play this great game. Thanks to Coach Shoulders for all the cooperation he gave the Macon County Chronicle this year.
The Tail gating was a big party for the kids who got in for free to enjoy the food and rides. Three radio stations from Cookeville put this party together. They are Bulldog Country 106.9 along with news talk radio 100.9 plus 1600 AM. The station that seemed to be the ramrod of this event was Soft Rock 95.9.
There were over 25 Radio Station employees on hand who did a great job with their interviews especially the one with RBS principal Don Jones. Thanks to the Radio Stations for making RBS their 12th and final stop of the season. That just about wraps up the football season so the Chronicle wishes to thank both MCHS AND RBSHS for their cooperation in getting the inside story all year.
