Big Plays leas Trousdale over Macon County

A number of big plays made the difference as the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets shut-out the Macon County Tigers.

On the Tigers opening drive they marched down the field but missed a 37 yard field goal. On the next offensive possession with the ball at the Jacket 29 yard line, Trousdale had a 71 yard scoop-and-score to make it 7-0.

Midway thru the second quarter Yellow Jacket quarterback Jayden Hicks scored on a 45 yard trap-keeper which was a very well designed play. Then on a third-and-fifteen the Yellow Jackets completed a 71 yard touchdown pass from Hicks to Tarvaris Claiborne with 1:18 left in the first half to make it 21-0 at the break.

Both teams settled down a bit defensively. The Tigers were able to stop the Jackets on two consecutive possessions by turning the ball over on downs deep in Tiger territory. However Macon punts of net 11 and 12 yards were just too much to overcome and Trousdale’s Hicks was able to score with 3:44 left in the game to make the final score 28-0 Jackets.

For the game Jon Mark Gammons was 7 of 12 passing for 52 yards. Isaac Belton ran 17 times for 69 yards, Ethan Jenkins had five carries for 15 yards, and Cameron Houston had three carries for 12 yards. Landon Whittemore had four catches for 41 yards while Houston had 2 and Belton one. Austin Robinson led all tacklers with 15 while Belton had 10 and Logan Whittemore had six. Five of the ten Tiger first downs came on personal foul penalties by the Yellow Jackets and those five were all in the first quarter.

The Tigers will now go back into region play as they will host the Stone Memorial Panthers. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm at Pat Parker Memorial Field.
