Tigerette softball nears end of season
The Macon County High School Tigerettes softball team is nearing the end of their regular season. They participated in three games this past week.
On Tuesday Apr 21 Macon traveled to Central Magnet in Murfreesboro for a district game. Macon jumped out to a 4-0 after five innings. Magnet scored one in the bottom of the sixth and two in the bottom of the seventh but ran out of time. The Tigerettes hung on for the 4-3 win.
Maysi Patterson got the complete game victory. She threw all seven innings and scattered nine hits, three earned runs and recorded six strikeouts. Katie Jo Shockley was the highlight of the offense as she was 2 of 4 at the plate with two RBIs and one run scored. Sierra Troutt, Jazzlyn Centers, Ryleigh Coley, Kayli Aulick, Emma Farley, Anniston Tirjan, and Patterson all recorded hits.
On Wednesday Apr 22 the Tigerettes hosted the Lady Eagles from Westmoreland. Despite a first inning home run from Troutt the Tigerettes fell behind 4-2 after the third and were never able to make up the deficit. Westmoreland won this one by a final score of 5-4.
Aulick began the game in the circle for Macon as she threw four innings, allowing five hits and one earned run. Kaylen Moore came on in relief and threw three innings, allowing three hits and one earned run. Trout was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Coley was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, and Aulick was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Centers and Patterson also collected hits in the contest.
Finally, the Tigerettes traveled on Thursday Apr 23 to DeKalb County for their last game of the week. This one would turn out to be a power display by Macon as they had three girls hit home runs in the game. Offense was the name of the game as Macon outlasts DeKalb 13-10 to get another win.
At the plate Troutt was 2 of 5 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs while Centers was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a homer. Moore was the leader as she was 3 for 5 with five RBIs and a home run as well. Other hits were by: Shockley (2), Coley, Aulick (two RBIs), Farley, Tirjan, and Camryn McConnell (two hits and a pair of RBIs).
The last game of the regular season will be on Tuesday Apr 28 as Macon will host district leader Watertown. This game could have post-season seeding implications as the Tigerettes will then begin the last third of the year and head into post-season action.
