Mealy months are far from being appreciated. They may think they are being diplomatic or politically correct, but their hypocrisy is highly audible to those on the sidelines. They are fooling no one but themselves. The people who pay the taxes are keenly aware of these oxymorons.

Wilson County Fair officials had planned to offer a church bulletin discount only to Christian groups attending the Goad and Country Day this past Sunday in Lebanon, but atheists “threw a monkey wrench” into their well-intended plans by demanding a discount for all atheists.

Today’s politicians, especially those in Washington D.C., remind me of my boyhood days of possum hunting. The Smith Chapel boys hunted possums as a pass time and for the .75¢ on $1.00 their hides would bring.
